An acronym is an abbreviation of a name or phrase using only some letters from each word in the name or phrase. Most acronyms use the first letter of each word, but not all. For more complete definitions of acronyms, see Acronym at wikipedia.org or Acronym at Dictionary.com.

- Examples of acronyms
- UBRS – For "Upper BlackRock Spire".
- HoT – For "Heal over Time".
- PvP – Player vs Player
- PvE – Player vs Environment
Although not listed as separate articles, many players use acronyms for Town and City names.

Also, some players use acronyms for regions: DS for Darkshore (or Darkshire), RR for Redridge, STV for Stranglethorn Vale, WP(L) for Western Plaguelands, and several others others.
