Start WoW. There's an version number in the lower left-hand corner of the login screen that will look like this: 2.0.6.6854 (major.minor.alpha.build). Just picture it like this: 2.00.06 (ignore the build number) and take out the dots (.). You are left with 20006. It's really not that complicated as the "Do it yourself" section would suggest.
